Investkonsult Sweden AB - focusing on non-wovens, technical textiles and hygienic machinery.

Investkonsult Sweden AB has been involved with the buying and selling of second-hand textile machinery since the early 1970's. This makes Investkonsult one of the eldest companies in the business. Apart from being one of the eldest companies in the business, we have a well-cemented reputation as delivering according to our promises and being a very honest and reliable business-partner.

In the mid 1980’s Investkonsult started to focus on the nonwoven and technical textiles sector in parallel with the traditional textile as the founder Mr. Jan Strömler and his partner Mr. Lars Berlin already then foresaw the decline of traditional textile in Europe and the shortage of machines. Nonwovens was in the 1980’s something which was only produced in the Western hemisphere with a few exceptions; some producers were doing it also in Japan and Korea. Thus, there were machines available on the market for sale, but very few clients available for purchasing. The need for a buying market to be created was huge. Mr. Strömler and Mr. Berlin set out to create a market mainly in India and Pakistan for the manufacturing of nonwovens in the simplest form which was then needle-punched and thermo-bonded applications. A lot of time was spent on creating a market and a demand for these machines and lines but with good success. Simultaneously a strong bond between Investkonsult and the various non-woven producers in Europe was created. Nonwoven production was already then, and even more so today, a quite secretive manufacturing business. As opposed to traditional textile, spinning and weaving of grey fabrics, etc… there are/were several patents and business secrets involved with many of the producers of technical textiles and nonwovens. This secrecy created a situation where many of the manufacturers of nonwovens were not too thrilled about having outside people in their factories and thus needed one single, strong and reliable channel that could sell their surplus equipment instead of having to scrap it (which by the way, also happened in many cases, especially within the hygiene sector).

The Sellers usually do not want several companies/persons running around in their factories, for reasons explained above. Therefore, Investkonsult have had an advantage in this field. We are already an established name with many of the manufacturers. The manufacturers know that by appointing Investkonsult for an evaluation or a sale of a line/machine, they will get full discretion; they will have Investkonsult as a filter for filtering out unserious inquiries and persons/companies just wanting to come and have a look at the plant and/or “price-fishing”. We will handle all the inquiries of the machinery/lines and we will only let the very serious buyers inspect the machines. As the nonwovens/hygiene/technical textiles production is a lot more dependent on know-how than the traditional textile it is of course also more important for us as middle-men to have this know-how as well and to be able to offer it to our clients. Therefore we try to educate ourselves as much as possible by attending seminars and exhibitions continuously. This is again an advantage we have and one which allows us to present ourselves as a more attractive business partner than many of the traditional textile dealers as this know-how is very important to successfully be able to market and sell machinery within the nonwoven/hygiene sector.

Due to the fact that we have an extensive knowledge about the machines as well as the current market situation we are also often called in by non-woven producers to evaluate their current and running equipment for insurance purposes. As we can perform this job it also gives us a direct channel into these companies so that once they have the machines for sale, Investkonsult will be the obvious choice of machinery broker to contact.

Today, Investkonsult Sweden AB consists of 5 employees with Mr. Lars and Mr. Johan Berlin being active travellers all over the world, evaluating, selling and buying machines. Mr. Anders Berlin is in charge of the home office and the database consisting of over 11,000 contacts in the textile and nonwovens industry, Madam Kristina in charge of all concerning shipping and Mr. Karlström in charge of our technical team for dismantling and re-erection.

Investkonsult Sweden AB continues to strive to be the preferred choice for both traditional textile equipment as well as the number one choice for the technical textiles sector and we plan on delivering and meeting our promises of always delivering the best machines, knowledge and support to an attractive price to our clients around the world.
